Too many Rookies that dont care!

I don't think all the ill mannered people are newbies. I have seen people tailgating and doing other foolish and dangerous things. Some are newbies others are not. I would like to see these people get out of this business. There have always been those who don't have respect for others. It just seems more prevalent today.

Just watching some of these people who leave their waste on the side of the road or parking lots, it is easy to understand why they have no respect for others. They don't even respect themselves.

This problem is not a product of the schools, but more a result of the way society in general is going. In all aspects it is becoming more and more me first and people of all ages are jumping on the band wagon.
Now with that said, consider this: If someone wants to lay the blame at the door step of the schools and at th feet of newbies then you must also place the blame on the "old timers" who often times the newbies will emulate. Also many of the "old hands" refuse to teach. They may whine and mon about how things are and where they are going, but they will not teach.

Pertaining to flashing one's lights - I'll do this only if the situation deems it necessary. Situations such as a line of cars or other trucks behind the truck passing me, or a truck passing me on a two-lane highway and the center stripe is about to become solid again, etc. If we're in situations like these, I'll certainly flash to help a guy out. However, if we have plenty of room ahead and nothing behind, I feel it's unnecessary to flash. We are professional drivers. We know how to pass, and we know how to move back in front while maintaining proper distance. As a professional driver, if I make the decision to pass, I should already know wether or not I'm clear to move back over if I've passed another truck. If I don't know this, then I need additional training, not flashing.

Now things irritate me as a new driver like all the old bastards that complain about the "new guys", or the classic story about the good 'ol days. Well guess what, I call BS on the good 'ol days crap. I sat with another Crete driver for 6 hours in Conway, AR he'd been driving for 30 years and he says the good 'ol days never existed. If you had a breakdown in the 70's it's not like there was a line of trucks pulling over to help you. It's just that there was less trucks on the road. What Uturn said about society in general is very very true.
