Are you a driver with a disability? If so, are you working now? how are you, were you treated by your employer? I was recently wrongfully terminated from a major trucking company because of my own disability.
Actually my failed re-evaluation was a direct result of lack of proper training, not my disability! The first thing I learned from my trainer was how to "hot swap" at 70mph with the cruise on. I was not allowed ample driving time in cities, I never even got to dock a loaded trailer. And now I'm facing more discrimination than at any time in my entire life & I've contacted a lawyer to initiate a lawsuit against them. How do you feel about it? Am I all alone on this one?

There are laws that require a person to be able to use their arms and legs, and have a required level of vision and hearing. If the company thinks you are not able to perform your duities, even with proper accomodation, you might not have much of a fight.
If you have passed the physical, then discrimination should be punished, but I bet it's going to be a hard fight.

Ok - what exactly is hot-swapping?

Hot swapping changing drivers without stopping the truck .
I'd like to know what companies train you to leave the drivers seat of a truck while going at highway speeds. That's one place I'll definitely never drive for and will give more than enough clearance anytime I'm near one on the highway.

I've heard of people doing idiotic things before, but for God's sake, exchanging drivers at 70mph? It just simply goes beyond comprehension of how stupid this is. Even if you're a trainee and the trainer says to do it, by you agreeing to do it, and actually doing it, makes you just as stupid as the person who said to do it. Even as a trainee, you can not be forced to do something that is going to risk your life, the lives of anyone around you or the truck/cargo.
This just simply amazes me of how stupid some people can be...
