Default Truckstops and wifi/lan access?

Do any/some/all major truck stops now adays have internet access? And if so what kind (wired lan ports, wireless, etc..)?

Just like to know what I need to bring with me once I hit the road.

Almost every major truck stop has wireless internet available. You'll pay by the hour, day, month, etc.

cool ty Like if I get wifi at a TA is it just that TA or all of them (if i was to get by the month? Otherwise hour/day would make the most sense.. Not planning on spending a month in the lot of a truckstop.

Pretty much each has their own. However, Flying J's WiFi is in many of the T/A's (even if no Flying J around).

If you do much on the internet, another option is a PC card from Sprint, Verizon, etc. They pretty much have internet anywhere. The areas where I haven't been able to get on are so far and between, I don't even notice anymore.

I pay $49.95/month for unlimited internet with Sprint (I have my cell phone through them, also). I think it's additional $10 if you don't have a cell phone through them.

Here is what I do, for what ever it is worth.

I have a Sprint air card, it has unlimited usage for $59 a month with phone service. Nextel and Sprint are now one, which I am sure you know. Go to a Sprint store, and they should switch you over for around $50 or less. The charge is for the Sprint phone. Or, if you have a Costco membership, they sohould do it for nothing. The Sprint air card is normally free with a 2 year contract. Just stick with Sprint, as Nextel is very limited as far as usage, and the switch is pretty painless, been there, done that.

Flying J monthly account, $20 automatically deducted from checking account.

I fuel at TA on a regular basis, and use the RoadMile Points for internet access. This comes in handy when I am out of a Sprint service area, and not near a Flying J. You can find TA's in the darndest locations.

I have found this to work best for myself while doing business, I have my own authority, and need to send and receive faxes in the truck. The only time I feel shorted is when in Wyoming, but that is another story.

Just go to a Sprint store or Costco and switch out the Nextel for Sprint. Just make sure you get the roaming account, and free calls after 6 or 7pm. I think it runs around $60 a month and $59 for the air card. Well worth it in my book. The air card has saved my butt one to many times, and I used to give my drivers a laptop with one, as you can really save some time, and be more productive with such a set up.

And I have had them all, Sprint seems to be the best out of the bunch, but I still curse them on a regular basis! Verizon does have a little better coverage, but have been a pain in the rear. Just my bad experience.

But does paying for a month or year of service at one flying J give you service for that month/year at ALL flying j's? (it'd only make sense but just wanted to clarify this).

Thanks for all of the info btw
