Click on the picture and it will blow up. You will see that the right turn signal light is on. I think that if it were the brake lights that were lit, both lights on the right side would be lit. Also, the passenger side door of the tractor is open so I am assuming the driver also has exited the vehicle at this point.

Four wheelers try this stunt many times. I had a police car pass me on the shoulder one time when I was driving an oil truck with my right turn signal on and slowing down to make a right turn. When I make right hand turns in a truck, I stare into the passenger side mirror and make quick glances at the road ahead.

 

I"ve seen (more than once) when a 4-wheeler will even climb the curb and go on the sidewalk to pass a truck on the right when the truck is making a right turn. I've even had tractor and trailer in the turn lane and had a 4-wheeler go up on the sidewalk, run a couple of pedestrians into a building, in order to pass me. But after the corner, there was a squad car parked in his way to get back onto the street. That was funny. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

 

More than likely his/her four way flashers are on.

Guess I do not understand why when there is a problem/accident w/one company, that everybody jumps in to criticize it. Accidents happen - big deal. Life goes on. Ya wont be pointing the finger when it happens to you. Oh my, hope I don't sound too 'Grrr'- just making an observation.

 

The driver should HAVE been set up in the turning lane, not just a couple feet of his truck in it. And he shouldn't have even attempted the turn with a bus sitting there.

He was swung wide to avoid the bus. If he would have had some Patience, and waited for the bus to pass, he wouldn't have had to swing so far out of his lane

There is a blue school bus on the road the truck driver was turning into.

Folks, we don't see the whole picture here. The bus might have pulled up after the accident happened and was just trying to get through the scene. We also don't know exactly how tight this turn really is; the perspective from this shot does not help. He could be trying not to scrape his trailer against that right lane must turn right sign. Regardless, yes he took that turn too wide, because it allowed the 4-wheeler the opportunity to sneak into his blindspot, and he "should have been" able to see the van attempting to get run over while in the turn.

 

Go back and read my post. I have seen a 4-wheeler go up on the sidewalk to pass a truck that was making a right turn. I've also seen them put the right side of the car up on the curb and sidewalk to pass a truck on the right. Just a little over 2 feet from the curb with the trailer, and the car had the right side up on the sidewalk, and the left tires right next to the curb, trying to pass the truck on the right.

Of course, I've also seen a big truck make a right turn from 3 lanes to the left. Didn't think that was very smart either.
