Tex..
I hear you. My neck hair prickled too. Yes it is still an ongoing issue around here. I won't go into details, but a certain Fire Chief and some other boy's around here...some claim one looked a lot like roadhog, not long ago about pushed the Game Warden (an Indian) and some Chippewas into the Lake when they were stealing smelt out of Lake Leelanau, claiming they have treaty rights. They were also trying to claim the right to go gill net all the Lake Trout out of Lake Leelanau too. (inland Lake) That is what they are pursuing now. It went to Court and proof of the matter is ...Lake Leelanau is a man made Lake. Take that dam out of the Leland river, and you'd have a whole lot of brand new Lake/ Riparian frontage. There are a lot of ongoing issues, and near skirmishes. Personally, I am sick of their dang Casino's too. Brings a whole lot of crime here we never had before, and lots of families have a relative who is addicted now to gambling. Don't go getting me wrong. I am not prejudice. I have many close friends who are Indian. It is an ugly mess, and I don't have the answers.

How's this one for temp change. Just remembered this one...
When I first moved up there, I borrowed a row boat, no motor and took off to one of the lakes up north around April, May. Think it was Big Star Lk? Got in the middle, nice day to start, in my T-shirt. Got busy fishing, not paying attention, clouded up, and before I could row back to shore, it was snowing... That was my first initiation to MI weather....... This has been a strange year here, hotter than normal, all the rain was west of us in the desert, and we where dry as a bone. But unlike up north, every home is AC'ed....

Yeah...I couldn't believe the heat spells you were getting. All through the southwest.
Hell...I was up in Maine and Northern Vermont this summer and it was 98 degrees even way up there several weeks in a row. Talk about rain... Some areas were Biblical. Sure is guldarn screwie weather crymany-cripe-sakes by golly geeez hey? ....go check out yoopr's post on(cheddarhead) Packer Humor in the Suggestions Box forum on Shykatts thread. You'll LYAO. ....ya...hey! :P

In 2004, we where up visiting the new Great Grand daughter and friends in Muskegon.
One couple we knew for a long time took us up to the reservation in Manistee, one hour and hit a $750.00 pot on a quarter machine, I was ready to go home, but put back another $100.00 killing time for everyone else to get through blowing there coin..... Funny how I was taking about Muskegon, just got a call from my son, running a load from Indy right now to Muskegon to stay at our friends for his 34 hr., then on to GR for a drop Monday morning. Weather don't look to bad, as he was coming home next weekend for one of his daughters birthdays and pack in his winter stuff.... Only has shorts in the truck now....

Just got back from my last Barn Dance for the year. Had a wonderful pot luck dinner, and quite a few people showed up. The weather was terrific. I had a Country DJ named Ryan Dobry. She has been a DJ for our local Country radio station...WLDR for over 24 years now. She taught everybody some nice line dances in short order...even the Boot Scoot Boogie. Some of these dances were tough, but she is such a good instructor, she had everyone dancing several different dances. We also did a bit of two-steppin'. It was a great time. Here are a few photos.

This year it is looking unlikely we will see it at all. If we do...it will be this month and for like maybe an hour...just enough for the sun to peek through one last time, before the IceAge begins.

Our summer was only about a month long this year....maybe yoopr's was half that. 4 seasosn here are; Almost Winter>Winter>Still Winter>Construction. Ofcourse you remember all that. Our Winter's use to be hard ones, and I have become soft living in the sunbelt, and since I moved back here 6 years ago, the Winter's have been mild in comparison. This year seems more like the old days when we were hammered hard. Yeah...trolling Salmon in your shorts. That could still happen...if we get our Indian Summer. Our local meteorologist thinks we won't see it this year though...so I guess that is good...whatever he says sucks and the opposite happens. They're hittin' them Salmon prettty good at the mouth of the Boardman River in Traverse City. I don't fish from boats much. I like getting into the water, right at the mouth of the rivers, or a little further upstream. I like having the river currents to fight too. I don't fish the Boardman River...it's too crowded anymore. I fish the river out my front door the most. Leland River...it's just a block away. Also in my area, I fish Shalde Creek just 10 miles south, or Crystal River over there in Glen Arbor, before you get to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. Back in the day, I use to go as far south as the Betsie River in Frankfort, or the furthest south I went was the Pere Marquette river down at Ludington. The only thing I ever did out of Muskegon was take the Car Ferry over to Milwaukee. I may do that again to go tour the Beer Brewery's. Did you ever take the Ferry Boat ride?
