Hello everyone! I am new to this site and new to trucking. I just go my Class A CDL with all endorsements, and a perfect driving record. I'm a 53 year old woman in great shape. I really want to drive local Seattle, WA to Portland Ore. I need more training and I am looking at several companies, they all want me to drive long haul I want to get experience on the job training local though.
Any suggestions?

You'll either have to find a small company in your area that only runs the area's you want, or sign on with a company that accepts new drivers to get the miles and time in. In the beginning you won't have many choices. Thats just the way it goes. Sorry.

Getting hired on local trucking will be easier in straight trucks. Class 8 almost always requires some OTR experience.

Getting into class 8 on a local level is not easy, and many OTR drivers with a year or more experience are going to be seeking that same local job, you want.

You say you need more training. Best place for that is OTR. You will have more miles backing, than a local driver gets going forward.

Try Gresham Transfere in Kent, Wa. They may give you a chance if you can pass their driving test. They haul doubles. Just a though, since they hired my daughter about 6 months ago who is just starting out. Once you have 6 mo experience try reddaway in kent. If you have any other questions drop me a line, maybe I can help you.
