Yes while it is sexual harrassment and could be pursued as such as any woman knows the pursuit of such a thing in a totally male dominated environment results in usually one of two things they find a way to get rid of you or the working relationship you have with the boss is damaged by reporting the statment and you get treated different from all sides for reporting it. While i did not and do not encourage that behaviour from my coworkers i wont respond even with sarcasm because that can just egg them on to continue the undesired behaviour. For me and i am sure for most women we want to be treated the same as the men. They would never say anything like that to another male coworker so they should not say it to me. Am i bothered by it? Hell ya! Do I wish the world was different? Hell ya! Am i a realist? Unfortunately yes. But that is the one thing they can never take from us women is our dreams of a better world and our push for getting it. Its like when i make deliveries to some places i often get people looking around behind me and asking 'where is the guy' or 'where is your helper' - i always respond with 'at home doing the housework' - even tho he really is but also to give that verbal reminder that the world has changed and men and women can do any job. From a direct coworker it is often more offensive than from a stranger especially when that coworker is aware that you do pull your weight and had no reason to blurt out such a ridiculusly assinine statement. But i think that besides being sexual harassment it falls more under the catagoriy of defamation of character and the creation of a hostile and unfriendly work environment as far as constructive dismissal goes. It almost feels to me that the statement was made because they hadn't shocked me yet and because i was doing the job just like them and that just rubbed them wrong. You know first female in their environment and not likely to just give up and go away :roll: :wink:

As a woman owner/operator who has been at this for 27 years now.... IGNORE them, be professional.

Some, not all, guys still think women should be "barefoot, pregnant & in th kitchen". It's funny, I get it worse from the younger bunch. Maybe they feel threatenend? Who knows?

And when you look like I do sometimes it's even tougher. I'm tiny, I drive a big Pete. I often get asked...you DRIVE that thing? :shock: "Naw" I reply, "I just sit behind the wheel & look pretty!" That USUALLY shuts them up! :lol: :lol:
