Default CDL for $100.00

I live in Georgia and went to my local Technical College. They have what is called the Hope Grant ( funded by the lottery ). Practically anyone living in the State is eligible for the grant. They paid the full $2400.00 tuition, and $100.00 for books. I paid myself out of pocket about $100.00 for fuel and misc. fees. So basically I got my CDL for $100.00
The requirements to receive the Grant are :
1) Lived in Ga. for at least a year
2) registered with selective service
3) no drug arrest in the past 6 months
If you live in Ga. you should take advantage of this.

Default wow...

I would guess that would put a dent in the "truck driver" shortage.

In Sacramento Ca. there is a school that trains drivers for free. It only costs the fees for DMV, Medical etc.. Foodlink is the name. I graduate in 2 weeks. The down sides, it is 18 weeks long. 6 classroom, 6 skills, 6 internship. You furnish your own housing and food. Ok if you get UI while training.

There are 2 places here in Missouri that will get your CDL in one day for 400. Not a bad deal if you daont want to go to a school for weeks and owe money

Happy Holidays

The only problem with the hope grant is that you have to attend a state technical school, and all the ones that I have checked are not enrolling students until March.

I'm trying to get on the road now, so that I can experience snow/ice while with a trainer.

I have a wia orientation date for Feb 7, but that's a freaking month from now!!!

Unfortunately unemployment is madatory for WIA.

I wonder if I could work for the next 2.5 weeks, quit, and still qualify for WIA?
