My first 3 months on the road was tough but I had excellent training from CVTC that carried me through those months. I highly recommend either technical college for your CDL training.

We did skid pad at SNI when I was there. I was the only guy in the class who had seen snow and I just stayed in the power as I steered outta the skid. Guy looked at me, laughed and said they don't get many guys who can deal with snow and ice but if I was gonna pass they wanted me to get off the gas in a slide.... Was the best part of the 2 weeks.
