I don't see any recent posts regarding GPS units. My husband had a RM TND 700 - it seemed to work great but there were repetitive issues with the cord loosening up inside the unit. The unit would quit working. I am trying to buy him a new gps but hear bad about both the Garmin 760 dezl and the RM TND 720. Does anyone have an opinion about either of these or a different brand?
Thanks so much!

I use ALK's CoPilot Truck on my Android tablet (also have it on my phone). It's also available for laptops (windows) & Apple products.

the Dezel is a big disappointment, the old Garmin 465T is better

I'm telling ya, if you're thinking of getting a new gps, especially 7" or larger, check out this combo: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" Android tablet (about $189 from Wal Mart) and CoPilot Truck for Android ($149). You'll have a device that will do a HELL of a lot more than just be a gps unit. I use mine for about 99% of my computing stuff any more.

It has a GPS receiver built-in. It's a true GPS receiver, not just a wi-fi based receiver. I have the 10" version of that tablet. It's never "lost" a GPS lock.

Also, with that tablet/CoPilot setup:
If you have a wifi signal available, such as a standalone cell-phone hotspot, it'll show you traffic info (free for 1 year, $9.99 each year after). Having a Wi-Fi signal is *not* required, though, except for the initial download & install of the software. The maps are stored on the tablet. But, I'll warn you, download it from your wi-fi at home. The data file is 1.5gig.
