I am looking for recomendations on a good light to hook up on the side of my truck that will shine back at-least 100 feet so that i can see when i am backing up on a dark, rainy night. I change trailers too often to put a light on the back of the trailer.

i was just thinking about this recently because i was able to get my rear work lights (2 on side of sleeper) to light. And they are pretty good (international 9400 series have a switch behind the seat AND on the dash---the 2 switches have to be in same position in order for them to work..............._)

get led lights in NZ that light up well over 100ft for backing they ideal ,even better than factory backing lights on mirror supports that kenworth supply

you ever see them lights way up in the skyes(on air-planes) there 12v and smale like fog light on cars(round) had them on a buggy of mine. i picked them up at a smale airport bye me but you may find them online even try e-bay

I bought a set of 55 watt Hella lights. I figured 55 watts should be as bright as high beams. Boy was I wrong. Problem not solved.

that is just the bulb. i need the housing for it so i can bolt it to the truck. What affect would a 13 volt light have on the electrical system? would it be the same as a 12 volt light?

12-13v same thing,(your truck is making 14v) you should beable to find the housing close to the bulbs, you will have to custum the brakets,there not cheep but will light it up. there also very stable to vibrations. call you locol aveation shop

Get a 100 W bulb but you have to be careful if you forget those on the bulb will burn as they don`t have the air to cool them as they face backward .Or get the LED which are awesome and don`t use too much juice ( but more expensive).
