It makes you wonder if these companies even bother testing the devices themselves before putting it out on the shelf for people to buy...

Hey man. Any update on your receiver problem. I have never run across one that wouldn't work becasue of the speed of the truck!!

You wouldn't believe what the problem was...

I got the new receiver, put it on the dash in the same spot as the old one and it worked - until I turned on my CB. Turns out the coax was bad on it. I replaced the coax and now every one of my receivers work perfect.

It was enough to drive me batty.

Aaaah. Funny how it seems impossible at first and then makes sense once you figure it out. That's good info for us. An RF leak from bad coax can interfere with the GPS receiver signal transmission to the laptop. Thanks for the update.

As of this date, they will begin shipping in the second half of November at a suggested retail price of $349. That date and price isn't "written in stone" yet, but that is the latest I have on it.

I run the northeast including the 5 boroughs and I just use my Nuvi 350. I know it's a stretch for some people but a little common sense goes a long way when using a GPS.

Personally until Rand Mcnally develops or is named in a trucking GPS I will never buy one. My Nuvi works extremely well on the truck setting for being a car/light truck GPS. Sure it will tell you to take some truck restricted routes but if you keep your eyes open you can avoid any major problems long before they occur.

Best regards on your continued safety and success out there and thanks again for the feedback.
Hey DieselBoss
I,m new to this forum and have been looking at stand alone gps units. I heard the bad reviews on worldnav and less on co-pilot but have heard goodyear is coming out with a new unit early 09.I think it,s called gy540x and has truck routing/restrictions. Apparently this one also will have a fm transmiter so you can here directions through your stereo (no more straining to here directions ). Is there any chance of you getting your hands on a beta version for testing? If this one lives up to there hype I would pick it up. Thanks!

Thanks for the heads-up driver. We will contact Goodyear about getting an evaluation unit. It looks like it is going to be called a "Goodyear GY-500X." Will hit this thread when I have more info.
