how do I bypass egr valves

I have see a post about bypassing egr's but I can not find it now. we have a 07 Volvo 780 with a d12 engine, we just replace the egr and want to now bypass or stop the exhaust flow to them, I had see a guy's post from Canada but cant find it now can anyone help me.

If your truck has a DPF, it is not a good idea to bypass the EGR. You'll destroy the DPF and cause all kinds of problems for yourself. If you don't have a DPF, at least with my Cummins ISX, all you do is let your engine cool overnight. Then, turn your key to the "ON" position for a couple minutes (DO NOT START THE ENGINE, just turn the key on), which will allow the EGR valve to completely close. Turn the key off and then unplug the power plug at the EGR. It's that easy. You might get warning lights. Some people do and some don't. You can also weld a plate over the exhaust port in the EGR valve, but that's not easily reversible. I'm not 100% sure the method that works on my Cummins will work on your engine. All you can do is try, I guess.
