Default smartshift problems

I am looking for troubleshooting advice on a smartshift semi automatic 10 speed. Recently I had a problem with the gear getting stuck in 8 and showing F. I disconnected the batteries and it reset itself. The next morning it did the same in 3rd gear but this time after disconnecting battery it did not reset. An ecu tech said to check batteries before doing more. I did find 2 of 4 batteries very low of battery acid. Would that play a role in sending insufficient amps to ECU module in transmission

ABSOLUTELY! It did on mine. 1 battery of 4 on mine controls the transmission and computer just by itself. Good luck.

It is a must to keep battery voltage up on autoshifts. Another thing to check is all the ground connections to the chassis. Corrosion always finds itself on the frame, especially during the winter months with road salts being used.
