Default cummins isx sound

I am familier with some of the cummings engines L10, M11, N14
but these new ISX engines sounds " rough " I am not talking about knocking ect.. but in general they sound
Rough compared to the older engines. is this correct or have i been listing to bad engines???

**Cummins** is not spelled with a "g"... Clessie never changed the spelling of his name. I know, your finger slipped on the keyboard ;]

So, what does 'newer' mean in your mind? ...2010? ...2007? ...2004? the isx used no-lash gears up until 07 which would cause some crazy geartrain noise after about 500,000 miles. rough running is often fuel system problems such as injectors and actuators

it was a 2006 475hp ISX. Never heard one before until the other day. it had 523,000 miles.
