Default Instument Problem

Hey Guys, 8)

I just finished my first month as a O/O, and it went pretty good except that when I drive through snow or rain my instruments ( speedometer, odometer, oil pressure, boost pressure Ect.) would go out..

If I stopped amd let the truck dry out it would be fine. But later in the trip it was ovious that the problem was getting worse

I have a 2002 Volvo 660 with a Detriot 60 Series w/Eaton Autoshift Trans

Any Ideas?? :? :? :?

It could be a bad ground wire or water is getting into the wiring somewhere. I suggest crawl underneath your truck and check for loose connections and maybe see where water could get pooled up and the drain is clogged.

Check by the base of your windshield, you could be geeting water in there when it rains and the water is getting into your dashboard.

Take the two torx screws off on top of your instrument cluster and pull the cluster towards you, check the inside of the cluster for water or moisture seepage.

Definitely sounds like water got into somewhere it shouldn't be.

This happened to the dump truck i drive and after our shop guy did a little investigating there was a relay, i believe, that was full of water. So he replaced the part and its good as new, well as good as an almost 20 year old dump truck can be.
