lol i guess not. after driving the same truck for over 10 years & still going with over 1.1 mil miles. & replacing the original clutch for the first time..... i look at it this way.. i want to keep doing what i have been doing all these years. & all these years NO oil analysis. maybe i'm a lil superstitious too... if ya dont look in the mirror... ya wont be frighntened....
$17.00 well spent and can tell you and your mech where to start looking and at 100bucks an hour might save you tons of money or save you from further damaging your eqipment saving you money again. ops:

I look for 1 and 1/2 inch of pedal freeplay. When you fully depress the clutch, the bearing hits the cluth brake and stops all the movement and it can be hard to get in to gear...that is normal. Same as trying to put one in gear with the engine off - it will go in some, but not others.

Sometimes it helps to cut the oil filter open, if there's much going wrong it'll be trapped there. There are places that can analyse the filter as well.

I have an oil annalisis done ever oil change and open the oil filter to look in there. Just a regular can opener ($1.95 at Walmart) works fine and don't make shavings.
