OK I'll tell him  Its on the back of the transmission facing the driver side, it has 2 wires coming out of it, I doubt you will be able to trace it very far due to all the wires under there. You can always try the back of the speedometer behind the dash

Is the speedo electronic if so, is it getting its signal from the ecu? But I thought it was a cable though. The nav unit i'm installing has a wire that needs to go to the speed sensor and one that goes to the reverse lead. What do you guys think? Check out page 10 on this. http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPER...%20INSTALL.PDF

After looking at the installation guide link that you posted, I would suggest that you get a detailed, VIN number specific wiring diagram of your truck.
The wiring diagram should show color codes for all wires, or numerical codes which are printed into the insulation on all wires in the truck. Unless you know which is the proper wire on the ECM to hook up to, you could destroy the ECM, and the unit you are installing, if you hook it up improperly.

it's not a cable ; ) the speed signal comes from the engine ecm. this truck has an electronic gauge cluster as well, so the speed signal is sent to the ipc over a data line (twisted pair between ecm and dash). the circuit board controls the gauge head
