Default Battery Question --- 3 or 4?

Just bought a 99 International 9200. It has 3 batteries in the battery box but has room for another one. All batteries currently check good, no charging/starting problems. Would adding the 4th battery be a good idea? Would a new additional one pull down the others or vice-versa or no ill affects?

Thanks.

I have 4, only because of the cold winters here in Ct, you can get by with 3 unless you run a lot of snow country.

Thanks Maniac, I wasn't sure if 3 was standard or if someone had removed one for some reason. Not alot of snow country for me.

The more the better. Three works, four works better. Your right about dragging down the other batteries. If you want to have four, you would be better off putting in four brand new batteries.

It all depends on the type of battery, and how many CCA's it has. My setup uses 3, but they are deep cycle Optima's.

Red Clay Rambler I have 2 96 9200's, neither has been altered from factory. The day cab has 3 batteries, the sleeper cab has 4. I would imagine the sleeper cab was set up with 4 batteries because of all the extra that can be used in the sleeper.

Both have S60's and if they both had all new batteries you would not notice any difference when starting. That 4th battery will be noticed when it's 5* out and the truck is not plugged in.
