Default cat question?

I have a cat 3176-b 325 hp in a 95 ford 9000 when I first start it up the stop engine light comes on blinking. I will then shut down the engine, then start it again after about a minute the stop engine light comes on again blinking if I leave it running for maybe a minute the engine will bump, and bump hard enough to feel it throughout the truck, then . The stop engine light goes out engine then runs like a new one. its full of oil, never runs hot , What can it be?
Thanks,
marktruck

What happens if you tap the brake or the clutch pedal. Does the problem go away? Sounds to me like the engine is going into what Cat calls "Cold Mode". Once the engine runs just a little it is coming out of it. A lot of the older Cat electronic engines do this on start up. Turn your cruise switch off and hold the resume switch down and watch the check engine light if you count the blinks of the light if everything is okay it should flash 5 times and pause and then flash 5 more times. This is code 55 "No detected faults".. Hope this helps.
