During the last couple years I've done the west coast run 8 or 10 times. I bang it to get out there, get a restart b4 unloading, and be ready to run with a fresh book. Invariably, I run back MT.

It's a nice run a couple times during the summer - kind of like a vacation. Especially to the Northwest - Montana is definitely worth seeing. I40 and I10 are just pavement pounders. Coming back MT from SoCal I took I15 through Vegas and up to I70. A nice run MT - would suck loaded. My 10-hour was a 20-hour in Vegas - a Bass Pro Shops Casino/resort across the street from the TA ;-)

The traffic in CA is horrendous, but unlike the eastern seaboard it generally moves.

One thing to remember, when things in the system work like it should you can make just about the same money leaving on a Sunday evening and being back home on Friday.

I haven't ever bought biscuits. I just pull the loads they give me, don't complain and communicate in a professional manner. Its worked so far.

That woud require thought and planning. Not the company's strong suit lol!

Just to be safe no biscuits until June 2010!

Professionally communicate to them not to call u unless the run is 1500 miles+ and ideally dropping at the AZ/CA border cuz u don't wanna drive in CA ;-)

I know what you mean and it's disgusting. With Keasbey having gone union, I wonder if that got rid of any of the favoritism?

There is a guy posting at Truckers Report saying everyone at Keasbey got fired over Thanksgiving. Claims the TM was requiring drivers to pay cash to get good loads. He went on to claim management knew about it and racism kept the TM from getting fired and that's why they "had" to go Union. Crazy **** if true.

Sounds like a disgruntled driver to me. Probably get a drivers room/gate code change next week on the QC.

won't nothing happen to the tm, superior would rather get rid of the drivers that knew about it. and just hire new ones with no idea of what happen. and carry on with buisness as usual.

Still open as of Friday. The terminal manager was canned a while ago. Rumors u hear on TM are consistent with what i have heard.

this question is for the other superior drivers, do i need to call log ops when ever they try to send me home empty, because here lately it's been all out and back. i wouldn't mind a couple weeks before seeing my home terminal.

My home terminal dispatcher has me call him whenever I get the empty go home dispatch from a different terminal on a system load. Sometimes the other terminals try to sneak you home so one of there drivers gets the load. They have changed it a couple of times for me. Most of our dedicated stuff is out and back anyway. This happens a lot when freight is slow. You could be sitting in a truck stop for 2 days waiting on a load but then they would pay you layover. Most truck drivers would sit without pay. At least when we sit its at home

I drive out of Morrow and saw that truck last week - quite a mess. I asked my TM how the driver was and was told that he was already out of the hospital and back home. I didn't have the time to gather more details at that time.

I gave the truck a close inspection as a reminder to me of how badly things can go out there.

wsyrob 12-29-2009 10:17 AM

Having the Tank repair shop in High Point we see the rollover carnage all the time. I saw an Enterprise trailer a couple of weeks ago at Grace TW that had been imploded and looked like a banana. I imagine they have a job opening.

I saw that truck for the first time today. First thing I thought was there is no way he made it. Makes you remember how dangerous our job is.

It was one of the dedicated guys out of Augusta that run over to Stepan and back. Supposedly all he got was a broken leg.

BHG0069 12-30-2009 11:38 AM

And whats up with all the broken beer bottles near the truck? I almost popped my tire on my car.

Guess the wrecked truck is a feature attraction :D

Superior....

I'm getting my hazmat soon and Superior Carriers is advertising in my area, Maine. Would like some honest info on this company. The flatbed company I drove for just closed down last monday. Any info on this company or a better than average flatbed company that hires in this area would be greatly appriciated.

All the info on the company is right here in this thread.

Superior is a terminal to terminal company. Just about every terminal works a little different than the others. You have different terminal managers and dispatchers at each and with that you have different personalities. Some are good some are bad.

Personally I have never had a problem with anyone here at Superior and I have been here two years. I am a glass half full kind of guy though and genuinely like my job. There are drivers here at Superior though that are absolutely miserable. I don't think they would ever be happy no matter where they worked.

Superior has treated me good. My terminal is one of the best in the company IMO. I have a good professional relationship with my dispatch and the Terminal Manager. I do what they ask and if they are in a bind I am usually there to give a hand.

I have no info on the Maine terminal as I have never been there ( to the terminal).

Overall I am very pleased with Superior and will never work with another OTR company. They are as perfect of a fit as I'm gonna get with a OTR trucking company and I can't imagine the grass being any greener. The only way I would leave is to find a local $20+ an hour fuel hauling company that pays over time and is M-F.

Peace

i believe there was a maine driver on here a while back that said with all the paper mill's closing up there, they didn't have enough work to support them.

Hey BHG, you know if they"ll be doing any hiring out of Atlanta anytime soon?

If they aren't hiring now, then the spring or summer would be your best bet.

You could always go to the terminal and ask personally, just remember to dress nice. =)

1catfish 01-26-2010 01:58 AM

what is the deal with the markham term.? i have never been in this terminal where i can get a trailer that has been clean, or in good working order where it dosen't need to be worked on before going to load. this is the only term. that there is a problem with getting in and out. right now i count about 30 to 35 trailers, there should'nt be a problem with trailer assignments.

Quit being so picky, a lot of them lights wheel lug nuts, and valves are redundant.

if you have a cdl with fair mvr, they need seat warmers and dosen't matter how you dress from what i've seen. so don't let these guys try to convince you that this is some golden job because the shine wears off real fast, then you see whats really under the surface.

Sarcasm anyone?

I made it by the Charlotte yard last Friday for the second time in my career. Seems High Point owed them a trailer. I just dropped it at the tamkwash and bobtailed home. Didn't even go in to hang around the dispatch window.
