Big jeep....I hope it didnt come out wrong when I posted that. By all means, I wasnt implying that you did anything wrong to not get miles at Werner. I was just giving an example on how its hard to tell what negative things you hear about a job is true or not. And how there is favortism in all jobs. Sometimes there is a reason for favortism, sometimes we cant figure out the reason.
I will be the first to tell you that we arent a high mileage company. Our average length of haul just isnt that high. Our fleet average for our van division is right about 2500 per week. In fact the last report I had emailed to me was "2540". Also here is another thing while im on it. I dont know if this is the same with all companies but it matters over here. One of the keys to getting good miles over here is "FLEXIBILITY" We only "require" a OTR driver to be out 14 days at a time. But the drivers who are flexible with that are always going to get more miles. What happens is with one of those drivers who demands that he get home every 14 days, He will usually get good miles the first week.....crappy miles the second week because dispatch is more worried about getting him home than finding him a good run. I will also be the first to tell you that sometimes recruiters dont explain that very well....lol. |

No not offended just explaing my experience at the..W..As for home time I was usually out 4-6 weeks ,and never complained about being home on the exact date I requested . I have seen some drivers just shoot themselves in the foot ...For example I was given a load going to Blaine WA set to drop at our drop yard for later delivery into Canada ...now the directions call for dropping at the truckees # 7 truck stop ...but you don't drop it there you drop it across the street in a yard shared by atleast 5 other companies . When I got to truckee's there was another Werner that had the same directions as I ,But instead of going across the street and asking to verify if that was our yard ...He just sat there typing messages to weekend dispatch trying to get them to confirm if it was our yard over the qual -com like they can see what he's looking at ,and he had already been sitting there for 24 hrs arguing ,and even after I confirmed that it was our yard by asking other werner drivers he still sat there ,and he sat there for the the entire week end ,and was still there when I left monday with a load ...Now as early as he was there he should have already confirmed ...and dropped his load ,and been available for a new one ,and being that he was there before the weekend he most likely could have been running unlike me waiting until monday on available hoping for a load over the weekend . And get this he was going to be late for hometime ,because of this delay ...And in his mind it was dispatch's fault .  ....Now for a driver like this it wouldn't matter what company he worked for ,as he is the majority of his problem . |

Your right though. He should find those who has succeeded at that job. I'm sure they outnumber the ones who has failed....wait, not on this board, though. Seems like every time you come online, their are many who has attack you on every post. Hmmmmm, I guess we all failed, of course, if failure is NOT putting with lies, NOT putting up with low miles, NOT putting up with attitudes from dispatchers. My reasons for leaving were clearly posted on this board. Don't seem to be their now, like many of my post. But like I always said. The bottom line is the bottom line. And with JB Hunt, it wasn't there. Simple. Complete. I hope he will look for those who have succeeded and post the number he finds. Good to hear from you again, Dances with the Cows. I'm sorry, wrong animal. Wouldn't want to offend..............the cows. |
Oh, by the way.....nice hi-jacking.

run as fast as you can. my brother is an owner operator. he leased their truck to them out of johnstown hauling all dedicate to conn, ri, me ma. started off great but something happened there. he lives right otside of fonda.
needless to say he left and is now leasing his truck to quality carriers. so just what i have heard and seen. good luck. btw ur from NY. I live in Albany. what part you from? |
I talked to one of the drivers that did the dedicated for JB out of the walmart dc in NY he was very happy. You have to check it yourself because what makes one driver happy does not work for another
|
Classic is right what makes one driver happy may not make another happy. Obviously my brother was not happy. I should of ended with that. Thanks Classic.
