Default Does anyone have any information about TMC Trucking?

Hello, I am new to the forum. I will be starting with CDL school in a couple of weeks. I have received a pre-hire letter (which I understand doesn't really mean anything) from TMC. They seem like a pretty descent outfit but I was hoping that some of you professionals had a better line on them. Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all very much in advance.

Background: 31 years old. I have no experience in trucking and but spent 12 years in the military. I am single with no kids and no real responsibilities. Looking to pretty much "stay" on the road. No real reason to come home.

I don't know too much about them, especially in your neck of the woods.
They offer a choice of mileage pay (set rate per mile dispatched) or percentage pay (you get 26?% of what TMC grosses on each load you pull). You can change between them every six months, but not more often. If you're paid by the mile, they will not pay for deadhead miles (in between loads) if it's less than 50 miles.
They had a dedicated account with Griffin Pipe, but i'm not sure if they still have it.
They pulled curtain-siders for ClosetMaid (cabinets) with their white KW's at one point.
They're governed at 62mph.
Their spread-axle flatbeds have one lift axle to make maneuvering easier.
I see them carting pipe, paper rolls, and lumber, but rarely steel or other metal products. Things may be different where you are.

Here is a thread you might like from awhile ago… one of my favorite reads. http://www.classadrivers.com/forum/t...16152-tmc.html

202 pages long! … but I started reading it back in '06.
