Default Justrucking...

I have a question about the staffing agencies you've mention on another thread somewhere. I am on my way to Minot in Dec. I have housing available for 30 days on the Airforce Base there. I am going to be getting a severance pay for my years in the Army so I have enough money to get into a place and time to look for work. My question about the staffing agencies is will they get me a job in the patch? I am currently working on my cdl and I will have all the endorsements before I leave here.

Hey you guys,

I'm going to do this quick and easy (lazy), posting before I've had time to lurk. Bottom line, I didn't know these kinds of opportunites were out there. I left my last trucking job two months ago and my priority has been hometime. That's hometime as in 'no longer a trucker', not hometime as in 'bad trucker, you want family and church relationships and you want an income as well!' Yeah so, I thought I might be done trucking.

I probably would have gone to Iraq if I believed in the cause- digression into politics for anyone interested: The Neoconservative War Criminals In Our Midst - PaulCraigRoberts.org

So now, I'm sitting here in my house about out of money and I'm hearing there is big money to be made out there harvesting oil.

I went off to the the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, at the age of 17. I've lived in Europe, lived in China, drove a semi through the continental 48. Now, I'm a single, 49 year old homeowner who was thinking about settling down. Except, I'm unemployed... Would I run off again? Just need a green light from God.

Everything checks out except maybe work history- I've had a lot of job changes. Experience, check. Flatbed, check. Tankers, check. Clean MVR, check. Health, check. No DUIs, check. No felonies (any criminal conviction), check. Hazmat, check. TWIC, check. What else?

I'll read through both of these threads, but if somebody wants to jump in here willing to dial it down for me really quick, I'll appreciate that, too.

Lastly, in addition to the Dakotas, I'm now reading Texas, too. Though I'm from Michigan, Texas really sounds appealing. Ice and snow are things you do only when you have to, IMO.

TIA

I received your PM, the neocon remark hit me square between the eyes as a very proud US Navy Corpsman... I have been called a neocon for years, and honestly still cannot wrap my head around its meaning. I am not for war, was not pro Iraq or Afghanistan... I served during Reagan... Remember him, the chief "neocon" who got us into not much of anything that I can recall, and I voted for Bush TWICE, who I honestly miss compared to the jackass holding office now. I joined up after the Beirut bombing of the Marine barracks, my dad was a Navy Corpsman with 1st Marine in Korea, it was the right thing to do seeing as Carter had gutted our economy and there was little work... I do not regret my service one bit, and resent being called a "neocon" for my political beliefs which weigh heavily towards the Tea Party. Honestly, if you are looking for work up here, I cannot help you. As your kind are the problem, it is like inviting the Occupy Wall Street crowd into your neighborhood, pretty soon you have raw sewage running down the street, unsafe to go to work, fear for your children going to school, and you leftist weenies shi--ing on my pickup because it does not meet your green agenda. Piss off.

Mike

Oh, on edit... Foggy Bottom, the name for the State Dept, is run by the left, has been since 5 years after Joe McCarthy, who was right in his thinking and actions. Call me a neocon...

I probably need to watch that more closely. I was trying to learn about trucking and made a poliical statement. But, I was kind of comparing going off to North Dakota to going off to Iraq, though of course the differences are obvious. Then, I explained why I chose not to go to Iraq.

If you think I called you a Neocon, you misread. I don't want to get into a pissing match, I just thought the employ possibility was intriguing.

Justruckin,

I just joined this forum and am intrigued with many of your posts. Have tried to PM you but can't seem to (maybe not permitted due to newbie status?). I am in Minot right now and will be begin CDL training in Billings next week. Hope to return here after a month or so. Would like to get your advice/opinion on a few things. If/when you find the time could you PM me? Thanks a million. Your posts have been very instrumental in my decisions so far.

Hey guys, who can you recommend for a great paying job? I am 30 year vet driver. Spottless dak and mvr. I have double/triple tanker endorsments. I had haz mat, but when I moved to SC from N.Y. it would not transfer and they wanted me to pay another $175.00 to get it again, even though I had it for only a few months prior to moving. I can literally drive anything with a motor. I did heavy haul for 10 yrs including the windmills. Trailers up to 19 axel, beam trailer, sterr dollies. Also heavy equipment like the D9dozers. No accidents!!! Please if anyone can tell me where to go or who to talk to. I don't want a job, I want to work!!!

Anyone interested in South Texas oilfield jobs might want to go to Home - South Texas Oilfield Expo - Eagle Ford Shale Oil & Gas Trade Show in Corpus Christi September 19 & 20.
