I have spoken with some ATS drivers and they seem to like the company. I have no idea if they hire out of Texas. I believe they are based out of Minnesota. If you want to work for an owner operator who is leased to a carrier you may contact Landstar or CRST Malone. Both have agents in Houston.

The best flatbedding with none of the other junk is to prolly get your own truck and authority since you have experience. I don't know of many companies out there who don't have some sort of way to track their equipment. You don't want Mexico or Canada, get your own truck and trailer then you decide where your going or not going.
