Werner is out of the question, as they have told me that they do not take anyone who has had even one DUI *ever*. I committed a DUI 14 years ago in California. When I mentioned that to a Werner recruiter, she said see ya later. Last edited by Retired in Nevada; 10-14-2009 at 06:37 PM.

and many companies that are finally breaking down and installing APU's are now seeing the benefit of also "allowing" the installing of backup INVERTERS-- this way driver's won't be starting up the APU just for aux power to run their microwave or running their CPAP on cool fall & spring seasons.
companies that allow inverters: Dynamic Transit Westside Transport Southern Refrigerated WEL and anyone is welcome to continue the list. How do you run a "back up" inverter without a charging source for the batteries that the inverter is drawing from ? ...in other worrds how do you not run the apu for it's battery charging duty when running any toys with a real amperage draw ? ... I have an APU and have a 2000w inverter as part of the package and the motor kicks on as soon it detects a drop in battery voltage be it from lights on in cab or running a microwave or ...He He He keying up on my radio with linear turned on .

well the APU's we have- have a generator which supplies 110volt to an outlet- but only when the APU is RUNNING. It also monitors the truck batteries and can be set to start up when the voltage drops to a pre-determined voltage. The apu is the "charging" source. the "back up" inverter is a 1500 watt Cobra Inverter wired to the truck batteries. Yes, you are correct- If I run my Microwave off the Cobra inverter for 6-8minutes the APU will kick on to re-charge the truck batteries. But, I can run my laptop, TV & VCR all night without the apu kicking on at all. This saves ware and fuel on the APU unit. Where as, without the Cobra "back up" inverter-- many drivers would be firing up the APU just for aux power-- not for the A/C. Our trucks also have the esper fuel fired bunk heaters-- which will COOK your Rear out of the truck on any Wyoming freezing night.

my apu supplies 120 volts whether running or not, when the batteries get down to 12.5 volts, it kicks on and runs until they reach 13.9
