For a young guy, with zero gas experience, his offer really isn't that bad. The insurance is pricey. The bonus is pretty decent, if they give the driver a regular "City" schedule.
Some city drivers deliver as many as 7 and 8 loads a day. If a driver worked everyday that was available, say a 5 day week, the bonus could be substantial. With a 5 load per day average it would be about $1,250. Not good...but still not bad, for a driver that wanted to get two years of gas experience, so he or she could move on to the better paying companies.
I'm willing to bet that he see's a lot of those driver's seeking the experience.
