I don't mean local delivery drivers, I mean the guys who haul freight between distribution centers. has anyone previously or currently work for them? I like the idea of going out and back and being home every day. Who can shed some light on driving for UPS?

Well...Mpneypit is right, it is a pretty good gig. One is home every day/night, has good pay, benefits, etc. I don't know, what else would you like to know?

If you're interested in applying, know first that most openings are filled from package car drivers who move into the "feeder" dept. after going through a 40 hour tractor-trailer school. It often takes quite a few years of seniority to get this opportunity. However, there are some areas of the country where part-time employees can also get a chance to go through the school and end up in feeders. There are also occasions when they will hire someone from the "outside", but that number is regulated by our contract.
