Default Need Help Please

Ok, I don't have the money to pay for school and I'm not entitled to any grants, loans, etc. So I need to find a company that is half decent, will hire someone with no experience, and I'll get some good miles. I know with any company there is some BS involved but I do need some opinions. Thanks

That is who I would recommend also. I started in the "Biz" with them in '91 and personally I thought and do think their training was top notch for a beginner. They are a bit military oriented but I think it's a good place to start. They have decent equipment now. When I started with them I had an old Intl 9670 Cab over, spring ride and the company speed limit at the time was 55. Oh the good ole days.

Applied to Schneider probably 3 times in the last 6 months, heard nothing. I did hear back from driver solutions(PAM), stevens transport, and FFE. I stayed away from CRE, Swift, and CRST. I'm pretty frustrated b/c I got an offer from Roehl but needed a co signer besides my wife and couldn't get one. I've done a lot of reading so I know Stevens is out. I was thinking of applying to Swift but they have some odd physical requirements and even though I have a DOT physical card as of 2 weeks ago, I don't think I meet there standards. Any help?

CFI now called Conway truckload will pay for most of your training if you can come up with some of it. I don't work for them but the best person to speak to is Christine Harwick in recruiting.
Call 800-641-4748 and ask.

MCT is another company that provides training.

Thanks! Put an application in with MCT this morning. They said they didn't know if they had any drivers that run out my way for driver training but will call me back.

Spoke with CFI and they made it seem like I needed to have the schooling done before I even went with them. There are no VA sponsered programs for CDL in my area and I cannot pay for any of it at this time.

I worked for the for 18 months 8 months as a team driver and 10months as a Safety Instructor.. Sure there are others out there but they are good people..

try going to your local carrer center and see if they have truck driving classes and in some cases they will pay for you to attend and get your CDL through them and they have recuiters that come and you can pick which company you whant to drive for.

Mike, if you can lift 55 pounds and carry that for 85 feet and back, you can pass the Swift physical assessment. The harder assessment is for flatbed, and that one IS killer. If you have any questions about the Swift physical you can PM me and I'll be happy to answer the best I can.

Good luck with your endeavors. I am a "way neebie" still in training, but I think I am going to like it, if I get the miles.

~ Kelly
