Anybody got any info on Thomason trucking out of Broken Bow, OK? Drove for TMC and Passmore and doing dedicated flatbed for the local Lowe's now, but since getting married and taking on more responsibility, just can't make ends meet. Thinking very seriously about getting on with Thomason, since they run most of the same routes I ran with Passmore, and their terminal ain't that far from home. Any input from folks that know more about them?

I was thinking that DT had it's main terminal in S.E. AR??

but I do know of the terminal at Broken Bow west of town on St. hwy 3 about 4 to 5 mi. out of town...

Don't really hear alot about DT,
but I hear even less bad stuff on them...
but remember I've never drove for them...
all I really have heard is Cb chatter...

What about their logs, paper or electronic?

Qualcom?

What all do they furnish?

Do they allow family to ride?
or pets?

Drive 2006 and newer Peterbilt 379s and 389s - Total Lie...POS Freightliner Cascadias with detroits and 5min idle timers and if it needs warranty work you'll wait 6 months or more because they don't want to lose time/revenue.
Newer 53 foot Reitnour Flatbeds - Lie... In the year I pulled for them I had 5 of those so called newer (2007) trailers which had cracked frames.
95% regional runs - This means no matter how much time you lose at a shipper you are expected to be empty by 10AM the next business day. The fedex of flatbed freight.
Average 2000 - 2500 miles per week - Yep and a lot of dead time at shippers like Temple Inland, CertainTeed, American Gypsum and Houston Ports.

Home every weekend and typically - False and when you are home it's not home for the weekend...It's home for a 34 restart. Typically you'll be loaded over that weekend.

24 - hour emergency service - Only if you happen to have the private cell numbers of the company mechanics who 50% of the time won't answer.
$300 Orientation Pay + $200 Bonus for starting within 7 days of approval - $1000 sign on Bonus.
Referral bonus - Driver recruiter bonus $1800.They are desperate for fresh meat.
Safety bonus - Pull them up on saferweb.
Christmas Bonus - Never got it.
Paperwork Bonus for proper paperwork - Impeccable paperwork and never heard of it.
Layover pay - Never happens...They will find some POS load to offer you
Stop over pay - Doubt it
Pre-pass and PIKEPASS - DOT did an office inspection on them Last August and their Safer web rating is now Non_Ratable (Check Saferweb). All Pre-Pass does now is lets the scales know you are coming in for an inspection.
Paid holidays - Never got one that I am aware of.
Vacation pay - After 1 year...You won't last that long.
401k - Don't Bother
Paid orientation - True
Assigned tractors - Relative term...Slip Seated 6 times in a year. Yes they are real good at assigning tractors...Over and over and over again.
Medical insurance - majority paid by company - Injured twice and requested time off for medical care and was ignored. Currently have a broken wrist I am nursing.
Dental insurance available - True
Life insurance available at a low cost to drivers - Given the state of their trailer fleet you might want to take them up on this.

They run paper logs, but spot check with GPS printouts from peoplenet cell tower communications installed in the trucks. So you are running paper but you may as well log as though you are on electronic if you don't want log violations.

Daryl has a yard near Briar, Arkansas (Nashville) which is a rocks throw from the CertainTeed Gypsum plant he hauls out of. Last I heard he locked up the drivers building there and fired the maid service. That Arkansas yard is still owned by Daryl but is not active. The Broken Bow yard is and always has been the main terminal.

You don't hear anything bad about them because Daryl Thomason does not have any company drivers. All his drivers are contract labor provided by TLC, Inc (Google TLC companies)...Basically a glorified manpower service for drivers. Since they are not employees and merely performing services for Daryl as a client--Well lets just say it's an interesting and thought provoking arrangement if they want their jobs.

DT is on Paper logs, but since last August when DOT raided their office; They are using the people net GPS tracking records to tighten up. So even though you would be on paper logs you may as well be on electronic. Before that the people net was used for pretty much dispatch only.

They furnish all equipment and re-imburse you for whatever knick knacks you need for the truck (Light bulbs, ect.) Keep in mind in the year I worked there I only had one set of company issued tarps that would keep a load dry. In order to keep claims down I actually dragged out a set up my own tarps from a barn that had been in storage for 7 years which were in better shape.

They have a rider policy at your cost. $15 a month. Pets under 40lbs if I remember correct.
