From what I'm told...Ol' man Johnson, who sold KJ to Priority, has Lennards Express in the building out back of where Priority, Farmington, NY branch is..that Celadon bought.
Anyway, Celadon bought the customer base that Priority had for around 1 million and didn't buy the equipment or the building. Well Johnson got ahold of the customer list and solicited them all and stole all the customers that Celadon paid for. What a joke...just goes to show you how crooked these companies can be!!!

Actually, what it shows is how stupid Celadon is.....if they actually paid $1M for a "customer list"..... and didn't get a signed and sealed "no compete" agreement....
Customer lists aren't worth squat.....they are in every phone book and set of public records. Maybe they paid the $1M for "goodwill" in the transaction.....

Companies don't really buy customer lists. They buy the freight contracts. As mentioned before if a company buys out a contract and does not get a no compete clause they are stupid. Of course there often is nothing saying that the customer can't cancel the contract and go somewhere else.
