In this evnvironment of low rates and high equipment prices many carriers with a high O/R and a weak balance sheet could be closing their doors soon.

Four to six months is not the case. this Friday is the last day for Priority Transportation over the road operations according to one of their drivers, he said all equipment must be back on Friday and this article backs it up.

The Bozo Show(I hate admitting that I listen to that show) broke this news yesterday afternoon. Was talking to one of thier drivers last night at the Bandit and he said that they got the message at 11:10AM. They were told to bring the truck backs and they would:
A)Get them a bus ticket home
B)Could apply at Celadon. A recuriter would be on hand at the terminals.
C)They could apply at Navajo

Yeah, what a great bunch of guys! No two-week notice...just bring your truck back to the nearest terminal...FOR NO PAY!! Not so bad if they were a local operation...but they're an irregular-route OTR carrier...could take a couple days to get back to a terminal.

Clean out your truck and ride the greyhound bus back home where a fellow passenger might cut off your head with a Rambo knife. Then hire on to Navajo where starting pay is .26 cpm...or over to Celadon who's CEO Stephen Russell wants to hire Mexicans because he can't find enough US drivers at .30 cpm and never seeing home.

LOL what a joke! They're all the same...

Yeah Im sure your LTL drive around town job would give you two weeks notice too.

Then again they might so that Hoffa could get his last two weeks of dues outta ya before you jobless.

hey BJ...i mean LBJ, sorry. do you just pull numbers out of thin air? is that what you do? why in your mind do all otr carriers pay 26 cents per mile? probably because you are an f'ing moron. you really need to get over yourself. you have no feelings for the people that lost their jobs...just being a dick about the company. you east coast douchebags are all the same. when the one guy said he was listening to the bozo show i thought he meant he heard you on the CB.
