I'm interested in going to work for CR England under their lease/purchase plan. I've talked to some of their drivers that's been there for a few years, and I'm hearing very little negative. Anyone here have anything they would like to add? I've got 4+ years experience and a squeeky clean driving record.

I guess I'm a sucker for a CRE thread.

Seriously - the CRE lease purchase program is the biggest screwjob around. You end up paying between $2000 - $2500 per month to rent a truck, and their pay package doesn't even come close to compensating you for that. They will run the hell out of you for a while, then leave you sitting until you are forced to default on the lease purchase. At that point, they'll take the truck and put another sucker into it. Do not ever - never ever ever - rent a truck from your employer. If you are dead set on getting a truck (why you would even think of doing it in this day and age is beyond me), then buy a truck from a dealer, and lease the truck on to a company (one that pays a lot better than CRE, preferred). Their "fuel cap guarantee" program is very easy to break, if you idle at all (they insist that you have 25% idle time or less). If you average 10,000 miles a month, your truck payment is going to cost you $0.25 per mile. On top of that, you have all the other things they will hit you for, which will hurt even more. And for all that, they pay you around $0.90 per mile. ($0.90 per mile - $0.25 per mile fuel - $0.25 per mile payment - $0.14 per mile variable mileage payment - $0.07 per mile maintenance fund = $0.19 per mile for you to bring home) Run, don't walk away from the CRE program.

Oh yeah! Thanks for the mental disorder comment. That was very helpful!
Sounds like you've done your home work with CR England. Sounds as though you have some personal experience with CR England. Or, is this what you've heard from a few disgruntal employees. I mean really! If you're going to make comments like this and expect me to believe it, then where's your sources? Fact is, I have done my home work. I've personally interviewed as many as 5 England drivers, with 3 or more years experience with the company. And just to be honest, I'm not hearing what you're saying. Oh yes, one more thing. These drivers I interviewed, I told each of them, that someone else was wanting to recruit me, so that they would be honest with me with their comments. By the way, if you want me or anyone else to listen and pay attention to your suggestions, maybe you should think about refraining from the rudeness. That mental disorder comment was totally out of line and uncalled for. I was just asking for help!

Confucius said "I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."
Simple words of wisdom to live by if there ever were...especially in regards to the trucking biz it seems. There's another old saying too: "There's a sucker born every minute and most of them went to Crash and Roll England". The archives herein are loaded with horror stories about that outfit. But do people listen? Noooooo... That's why things never change in this industry. TRUCKERS DON'T LISTEN!!! You could tell a trucker the sky is blue and he'll tell you it isn't time after time. Drivers keep making the same mistakes over and over and over. The big outfits depend on it. If people wised up then they would all be out of business. Every New Guy Leaves After Ninety Days

There have been hundreds of threads started on this very board by people just like yourself who were snookered into the CRE hype. They all say the same things, which you have already started to, and I expect will continue. Just out of curiosity, why on earth would you want to pay CRE an inflated price for a Century Class Freightliner, when you could go out and buy one yourself for a lot cheaper? Do you just have extra money to throw away?
