Good Driver with accident
Are there any trucking companies out there that will hire a good driver with a recent accident? I had an accident in the truck in June 2006 (my fault, I will admit that), but now it seems as though I've got the plague or something because nobody will touch me. Not even Swift.
They all say they require 6 months or more of accident-free driving before I'd be eligible. But how do you get that if no companies will give you a chance at redemption?
The accident happened in Canada, if that matters, but I live in the US.
At the accident scene I got a ticket (duh), but it is not (yet) on my driving record. The lawyer I talked to in Canada said that he could get the ticket thrown out on a technicality (the officer failed to fill in the date completely). I briefly thought about not mentioning it to anyone, but I know that would not be smart and I'm too much of an honest person.

Well the term accident is very "vague".Not all accidents are created equal,so it would probably help if you would elaborate on the nature of it.You say this happened in 2006? Were you terminated directly after the accident and are just looking now for employment back in the industry 2 years later? Im somewhat confused.Whens the last time you drove? And its hard to get redemption when you are behind the wheel of something potentially worth hundreds of thousands and have the capability of ALOT of destruction.

I stand corrected... My accident happened in June 2008, not 2006.

you may want to check your dac report. your former employer could have reported some incorrect info plus the fact that you had a accident could be stopping you from getting a job. I had the samething happen to me. i didnt have a accident but a former employer reported that i had 4 accidents in 7 months. they didnt describe what they were hich was bending a rim, mud flaps missing just plain b.s. I threathen dac services with leagal action for reporting this info and they took everything off of my report. usis is the official name of dac services. do yourself a favor and look into it. better yet, whom ever turned youy down from employment has to give you a copy of your dac if you request it from them so try to obtain it that way. it faster then just follow the instructions on usis so you can challenge the info on the report.
