From what I understand about this is that Swift itself isnt under investigation, however some of the employees at the training center in Memphis are.
Personally what I think is happening. I think we will eventually find out that some people at the training center were taking short cuts, getting sloppy, not dotting the Is and crossing the Ts and perhaps some drivers who shouldnt have been hired slipped throught the cracks. I do hire for swift and have noticed that a while back they were getting really picky and started turning people down who normally I would have thought could have gotten hired by Swift very easiely.
I guess we will wait and see what happens.

Sorry Swift haters, It looks like I was right. Swift isnt under investigation.
From what I see and have heard, it looks like something in the operations of the TDOS is being investigated. The TDOS runs an office in the swift training center.
Now my theory, I bet someone working for the tenn dept of safety was pulling some scam with illegal aliens. Perhaps creating fake DLs for them.

Sheepdancer is right. Here's a press release from Swift. Sounds like some corrupt Motor Vehicle Dept employees. Usually you don't get that kind of massive law enforcement roll out unless it's corrupt public employees. :lol:

These agencies were on site at the Swift Transportation commercial truck-driving school near Memphis, TN today and executed search warrants as part of an on-going investigation that involves the issuing of Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL) at the company's facility in Memphis, TN. Swift indicated that these investigations will cause no disruptions to their business.

Dave Berry, spokesman for Swift Transportation said, "The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other agencies, are conducting an investigation concerning the issuance of commercial drivers licenses at our Tennessee facilities. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in charge of the investigation in Tennessee and the FBI, Swift is not a target of the investigation. We do not expect this investigation to cause any disruption of our business and we intend to fully cooperate with the FBI and any investigating agency."

There have been several CDL scams in the last few years. The biggest I can remember was the one in Illinois back in 1999 & 2000.

gives an explanation of sorts, as to why the search was conducted...though I find it hard to believe the FBI would be involved in a "accident" investigation, involving an illegal alien.
