Hi folks,
I'm new to the board but been driving for about 15 years . 9 spent with mclane dist. Made a great life with great $$ but as the knee wore out i realized i needed to leave. :sad:
With that said i have talked to many companys, Some promised high mileage pay but as we all know it means nothing if your not rolling.
After interviewing many companys here in the NE and beyond I decided to lean towards Smith Transportation. I really have not seen much posted here and was hoping that I could get the REAL scoop on this operation.
Over the road looks as it did when i started, A real crap shoot to hook up with a honest company thats not a driver mill. LOL!!
So hopefully perhaps some of you folks could give me some feedback??
It would be greatly appriciated! In reading this board it seems like many of these places are definatly bad choices.........Kind of funny that these are the same ones with the big ad campaigns :lol:

15 years experience and your leaning towards Smith ? They advertise a heck of a lot to . If you have a clean record you can do better , try to get on with WalMart or a private carrier .

As we all know Walmart once owened Mclanes, Thwe had a working agreement even after it was sold to not hire each others drivers for 18(??) months after seperation .
They deem me as damaged goods after my knee issue (repititious use) . Meaning long as i don't run the ramp its fine.
I have no tickets, issues ,accidents or other things that would red flag me.
I have little tolerence for BS or hype and have had to fire a few jobs since Mclanes.
As i said pie in the sky promises don't mean anything and the unfortunate part is that the more i investigate the more confusing i get. -TK

try tyson up in your area, i think they might be looking up there. good pay last i talked to them but they are not looking in my part of the buckeye.

Never been with smith but a buddie worked there for about 3 months and left.. But he is a person who will not put up with crud of any type..
Thats all i can say about Smith..

I appriciate the imput, As we all know there is BS at everyplace.......Its just how high on the meter it goes! LOL!!
