That question didn't come up in the interview?

Would you ever consider not pulling a van or reefer?
Well, If I were to seriously consider- leaving a personal vehicle in Olive Branch, Ms( Memphis area) for transportation for my time off-- I'd simply apply at Superior Carriers and become a tanker yanker---- I was just looking at one of their ads in Trucker Connection...... they got great benefits!

No, at this early stage in this new position at Heartland-- I don't think I took a major step backward--- the numbers and way things were going- operating there at Shaffer-- I'm confident(knock on wood) that I'll clear better $$$ for my time invested-- than if I had stayed.

Hometime is the only big question mark- down side.

Unless the state of Arkansas turns US412 into a interstate-- I'll never have it "easy" getting home for time off. This is the 1 major benefit I'll be seriously missing since leaving Crete/Shaffer.

Timing?-- Very risky changing jobs in the middle of a recession.

Here's how I figure driver compensation:

(CPM X MILES PER 7DAY WEEK)/DAYS GONE FROM HOME= DAILY AVERAGE PAY RATE

If you can cut the days you're away from home, you can cut your total daily expenses== more $$$ remaining in your pocket.

Ok-- this week is working out as promised as far as hometime goes:

arrived at my shipper at 9am for the 21:00 loading appt.

they finished at exactly 5pm shift change.

so 8 hours in the sleeper to stop my 14hour clock

arrived home at 12:15am

but was pissed off to find a truck in my usual parking space at the Fuel Stop--- a POLY TRUCKING Truck-- some body not only got the job I was after-- but now took my parking space as well.

Well, night all. Got 2 days off before I have to roll out early Sunday Morning for North Carolina.

The grand conspiracy to take over your life has begun. Get your tinfoil hat on before they steal your thoughts.

yes Cyanide-- I've been keeping my eyes open here too-- but the Print in that trucker rag was so much bigger and nicer than your posts-- eye catching. Don't worry, If I did actually consider that-- getting my hazmat again 1.5 years from now-- I won't forget to mention Truck#3110 on the first phone call...bud...

Right now I'm just a little put out-- that Poly hired someone else from my neck of the woods instead of me...kinda shots down the 'bad location' theory as to why they didn't call me back!

Got the recruiter BS shaft again eh......and here I thought he would give ya the straight scoop since he is one of the admins here.......
I wasn't his recruiter and I haven't BS'd anyone I've talked to in the nearly 7 years I've been here. While that doesn't make me a numbers machine, it damn sure makes me honest. So let's put that crap to bed right now.

That said, I don't know what his recruiter told him, but any question I've answered on the board and on the phone, has been on the level. If he's having hometime issues in the regional, that's on his F/M and if he's not getting home, I would agree that he's having issues that need to be ironed out and likely will be if they have not already.

What I do know is that the regional division he's running out of has an over-abundance of freight right now, which could be contributing to his hometime issues, as well as higher miles than normal. It shouldn't, but it might be the case. However, that's pure speculation on my part.

From your previous posts here I thought you were his recruiter.

My apologies to you Sir.
