The only real downside with Crete's OTR program, IMHO, is them wanting you to stay out for at least 3 weeks before taking time off.

One thing to be aware of with Crete is that it is rare for the recruiters to actually call you first when you have submitted an application. You need to call them to really get the ball rolling.

I have heard that once before. I think it might be their way of finding people that really want to work for them. I might have even read something on their web site kind of along those lines. Anyone know anything about their training for a recent grad? as far as how long it is and so forth.

your looking at 6-8 weeks training @ $500. per wk and may have the same trainer all the way thru or not. Don'tknow if you will get home in that time! so you might want to ask about that. I used to stay out 2 wk at a time but found that you have better load offerings and get longer runs if you stay out 3 or more weeks. That way they can run you all over the place instead of keeping you close to home

My recruiter told me 3 weeks out, a couple of days off, then 3 more weeks for OTR training. But we all know recruiters lie

Sounds about right for Crete's OTR fleet.

Be patient with the Crete hiring process. They are very meticulous with the references checks. It seems they ask for a little more information and verification than most companies. The story I have heard is they 'hire you for life, not just for a short while'. I have returned twice. I am sooooo happy with them. They really don't want drivers who are going to be short term.

Another point is the 1 day out, 1 day off policy. If you get a load that gives you time to stop by your house, those days under a load don't count against your time off. I live in Fl and I usually can stop at home for a day or two before I deliver my load, then start my 'official' time off after midnight of the day I actually deliver. I know of one driver who is home about 10 days a month in Knoxville. He picks loads that get him thru there and stops at home for a day or two enroute.

Crete does not babysit their drivers. They hire you because you have proven you know what truck driving is all about. They trust you will pick up and del on time. What you do in between is your business as long as it is legal.

Good luck. I think you will be happy with Crete.

Not a problem there. I'm pretty committed to my current job until February 2nd or therabouts. And 'security is looking at my file' now that my employment has been verified. So I'll just toodle along until next week before I bother calling again.
