Default Farewell Roehl-Thanks for the training

Well after 2 years with Roehl, I turned in the keys to the truck on Sunday. This is probably a surprise to some of you since I have been for the most positive with Roehl info. Great company to get experience with but long term not happening. It still was rather sad when I got out of the truck for the last time. It may just be a truck but it is your home more than your home in your home town.

After 2 years of putting up with their variable by month idle time % and loosing bonuses because I wanted to "live" in my truck, and have safe edible food, I'm moving on down the road. I was not being given a raise and was being held at the .34/mile mark. Will not sit at that rate when I have the experience now to make more. I made my goal of getting 2 years of experience. Now I can go basically to any company with a clean safe record.

Not sure at present if I will remain OTR. Weighing my options and looking to see what is available. Thinking of moving back toward family in the Pacific NW. Got the I-5 corridor to look at for companies.

It has been written (or something to this effect) The road diverged in the wood and I took the one less traveled and it has made all the difference.

I'm proud of my accomplishments. If I never drive Class A again I can say "been there...done that and survived."

BOL Soledad, in whatever road you take. Your posts have always been informative and encouraging. Please say you'll still be on the board here!

I most certainly will be staying on this board. I may be off the road but the road is still in me. I need to still hear about the trials and headaches you all face out there. I will also be willing to chime in on my former company if I have any knowledge that will help someone decide if Roehl is what they want.

It's called the Right to Work, Right to leave you when you feel it's time to move on.

Yeah, as long as you left on good professional terms- didn't abandon their equipment or quit under a dispatch(leave a load hanging) then you shouldn't
have any problems finding new work in this Industry- now with 2 years exp.
And a clean record.

Best of luck-

Will be looking for local work in Vancouver, Wash/Portland, Oregon area. Having to come off road to help with elderly parents. Going to have to look for something that is home at night routine.

I gave Roehl the best 2-months of my life  I just could not take their petty, cheap, anal organization.

Dispatchers/fleet managers/dsr were dimwits - "you are going to Sterlite in Massilion, Ohio." Now everyone who knows it's MASSILLON, Ohio. Home of Paul Brown and the Massillon Tigers. Them Marshfielders must be into ice fishing and grain alcohol, because they don't know squat about football.

I think they are hurting for drivers. Billboards all around the country and they have bombarded XM and Sirius.

I set my goal of the 2 year mark when I hit the 1 year. Decided that if I survived the first year I could do a second. I wanted to have a solid 2 years with one company. It looks better on the resume.

Me thinks the 2-years with one company is overrated. I am on # 4 in 19 months. With the exception of Roehl, each job was an improvement.

Yanking Tanks for Superior. They are a great outfit. I will stay until they throw me out of my truck

Don't get me wrong. Setting and achieving goals is key to any successful person. Goal setters are effective people - you must be an effective person!

In my situation, I did my due diligence on each company before taking a job. But, you never know until you work for them. Each organization has its peculiarities and neuroses.

I guess my goal was fairly modest. Find a company I could tolerate that also paid a living wage.
