Default CELADON.....MY FIRST 2 WEEKS (read it}

Started off slow after comming home to get the rest of my stuff,lost most of Monday to get an MT trailer,Tues. got a good load from Augusta,GA to Danville.VA. So far everyone trys to help you in any way they can,I'm out of the Greenboro,NC terminal and the folks there are pretty nice.Tell them something and they will act on it pretty quick,I wanted to be home on the 23rd for Christmas and hey!We all know freight is real slow and hard to find this time of the year and its going to be like that for a few more weeks, after sitting,waiting for a load I told my dispatcher it wouldn't make me mad if he wanted to send me home early,it being the holidays and all,well, they sent me a load and when I got to the shipper it had been cancelled,waited for a while and asked if it would be alright if I left there?(I was going down the road to a T/S)told me to head home,that made me a happy camper.All in all I think Celadon is as good a company as the rest,better in some ways,worse in others,I don't like sitting and waiting at docks for long times,paying tolls out of my pocket,this is the first truck ever I didn't have E Pass,hope I don't spend a lot of time up in the NE(reason for no E Pass)I'm just an old red neck southern boy,I don't like snow,I'd rather spend 3 or 4 day in Laredo that go north of the Mason Dixon line,got a 2007 Freightliner,nice truck but, can't get the smell of dog and cigeretts out of it no matter what I do,don't like a 63 mph truck,but,I've decided its got to get a lot worse than this for me to put in another application,about the only difference between one company from another is THE NAME ON THE DOOR,thats what my wife said,and she's right most of the time,I let her think she is anyway. Thanks all,MERRY CHRISTMAS and God bless all.

If you really think that the only difference between companies is the name on the door you might as well give up driving a truck and do something else. No offense to your wife but that idea is whacked.

The difference between driving Solo at Werner and CFI Or Crete is about $15,000-20,000 at the end of a year...And just based on CPM alone at 100,000 miles a 2 yr Solo at Werner is only going to make 30,000 (if he even gets 100k miles) wher as at Crete you would be at $41,000 for the same base pay at 100,000 miles...

Seems like everyone is really sold on driving for Crete.Been there ,done that and no use me bashing a company that a lot of people like,different people look for different things in a company,some like this and some like that and thats the reason there are so many different benifits for drivers to look for, me, I'll drive and run as hard as the next guy,but, I like to come home every other week-end,like the fact of taking a week off plus a $1000 bucks every 30,000 miles,I even like the half cent raise after 60,000 miles,I like working for a company that listen if you have a problem and will work with you if you express a concern,It boils down to what ever floats your boat. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GOD BLESS, y'all be safe out there.

Keep us posted on your progress. Most people seem very happy at Celedon their first couple of months but quit after 6-8 months. Hope it works out for you.

I almost went to Celladon on a couple of occasion before i got to Barr Nunn based if on nothing else the bonus and week off every 30,000 miles. I talked myself out of going there for whatever reasons...i am just curious to see how quick you end up getting to the 30,000 and 60,000 mile marks...those are good bonuses if you can get to them every 3 months or so but if it takes you 4 months to get to it it just isnt worth the time if you ask me, keep us posted on the progress.

I was this close [] to going to work for Celadon. I think they are a decent outfit. The raises plus a thousand bucks and week off are definitely sweet. I don't see many of their trucks stucks in a truckstop (Werner, Schneider, JB) over the weekend. They also have good ties south and north of the border.

Default Smells in truck

Try Febreeze in the blue squirt bottle to eliminate the odors in your truck. Soak the floors, seats, bunk, walls and anything else you can see. The solution will dry rather quickly (1 hr even if you soaked the seats). Try in someplace warm, close the windows and leave it absorb for an hr or so. I've used it lots of times and it's always worked. Even in a Celadon truck. Good luck.

Happy New Year.
