My family and I's needs and wants were met and obtained, and that's all that mattered.

Hey Stan, last I heard and from talking with a Miller terminal manager, he said that not all the company driver's were union, and that it depended upon the individual terminal... Yep, doing that other thing we spoke of months ago. Will share with everyone else soon enough

Now, all bickering aside gang, can we please keep this thread open for those who are curious can see what the different tanker companies have to offer??? If we're going to argue this whole pay, hourly versus OTR, time off, etc. thing let's move it to another post...

Im thinking of starting with Schneider bulk. I have no experience and dont want to pay for the training. I know I will be commited to them for 1 year. I hear some good stuff and some bad stuff. What are you alls opinion? Does Schneider pay all miles, or just loaded ones?

$20, then $10 each additional hour.

Holiday Pay:

Funeral Pay:
$40/day for three days for funeral of family member.

Training Pay:
Experienced drivers: $400 for 1 week.
Recent school graduates: $350/week for up to six weeks, plus $130 two-day training.
Inexperienced (Need training): $0 for 14 days of Pre-hire training, $350/week for up to four weeks,, plus $130 two-day training.

Quarterly Safety Bonus:
0-1 year: $300
1+ years: $400

Vacation Pay:
Paid average weekly earnings.
1 Week at 1 year.
2 weeks at 2 years.
3 weeks at 7 years.
4 weeks at 15 years.

Time Off:
12-14 days out, 3 days in.

Insurance :
Health (after 90 days for inexperienced drivers, immediately for experienced drivers):

I see the mileage pay. But, I dont see if it diferentiates between loaded and unloaded. I would assume that means all routed miles are paid. But, I hate to assume. Or...am I missing it?

Ha, Ha, I am a system driver at Superior. We have trucks that go 68 mph. . I Almost NEVER work twelve hours in a day unless I have to. I usually make my 650-660 miles within ten hours worked. ...Um ahem... I may log twelve, but I rarely work it.

Local guys... well that's a different story.
my truck will run 87 but we arent suppose to log over 62.

We cannot however "average" more that 60 mph on our logs

You must have a different log sheet than me, mine goes by the hour... not by speed. Great company you have.
, they calculate how far you go in the hours you drive and then figure out how many mph you average, I think all companies do that, if you say you went 500 miles in 7 hours, something isnt right

What would happen if your went 30 miles and the highway was shut down, for a accident or weather for 12 hrs what would you get paid?[/quote]

company drivers that are paid mileage get the same pay loaded or empty

Thanks CYANIDE for posting all the info , very helpful. Carry transport really increased there pay . I was at L C L for 4 yrs. the pay package you listed took effect sept. 06 , they lost alot of drivers because of it. L C L used to be a union co. , now mechanics and tank washers are the only union members, in Elkhorn Wi. only . They used to pay for load-unload , pm,s all hours , miles driven for home time , drop-hook , Canada hourly wait time, short trip under 200 mi. 60.00 plus miles and load-unload, breakdown-repair lights all time payed. They been non union for a long time , not sure what year . It still a decent outfit. Little things like installing a power inverter there,s no charge. They have intransit heated tanks , so you have to idle , which is nice . T-check fuel card you can fuel anywhere , they prefer pilot and ta .

I can't speak for the others.....but Superior has a terminal in Karn's City, PA on PA 268 just south of I-80, about 140 miles from Cleveland. Whether or not you would want to drive that distance or not would be up to you.... But its also possible that there are other tanker companies in the Cleveland area. I did this search and came up with this:

But I would recommend doing some in-depth looking as some of the jobs may not be easy to find. Use the phone book, and look at the tankers running around the area...and look to see if those companies have terminals in the Cleveland Metro area.
