That is why Mike was trying to high tail it back to Arizona in order to return to school. Last I heard he was taking a night dispatch position with Knight in Phoenix so he could finish college. I guess all the babysitting of drivers drove him in that direction.

What a dumb ass! He is probley one of those guys that would brag about going around a scale on the CB with another driver while they were doing it with DOT listening :P
Knight has its good points and its bad points just like any other company out here. Every company has its problems but the problem with Knight is not only doesnt your FM not give a $&!+ about you, your terminal manager doesnt give a $&!+ about you and also the Knights themselves dont give a $&!+ about you  Thats right it goes all the way to the top!
You are an a$$! It just so happens I was a safety director for Knight, so I happen to know how the system works. Instead of sitting around bitching all the time get off you a$$ and do some work.
You were a safety director? So you should know Josh angell then right?
Sorry, I dont know Josh. I was the one who took the place of mike Evertsen when he went back to AZ.

Sorry man I forgot about ya, let me find something for you. I also have to remind him that I have no empty trailer and that usually results in a wild goose chase to find one. I could never figure out how it is that a company as large as this can be so derelict when it comes to making sure an empty trailer is going to be available for a driver to pick up.

As far as the qualcomm sending a message to safety about a driver going over the 11 or 14 hour like dollarshort is saying is absolutely false. Many times I went over it because of Knights planning not mine so lets get that straight before someone gets stupid and runs their mouth. Loads were not turned down by me cause I couldn't afford to turn them down. So if the qualcomm program used by Knight sends a message to safety about a driver running illegal then why didn't it send a message to safety the day I ran 880 miles? Because its b.s.
Sounds to me that Brian Toucheck figured that you weren't going to be there long so why waste time on you. As far as getting stranded over the weekend that's your own fault. I NEVER work over the weekend unless I am pre-planned for the ENTIRE weekend before my dispatcher leaves on Friday. Otherwise forget about it.

I can't blame him. You are correct. The babysitting of dumbasses was rediculous. Not for me!

one ex-dispatcher out of the tulare, california terminal works at an enterprise rent-a-car office in clovis, california. he told me he quit due to having to fight with too many drivers all the time. according to him, most of them were owner-operators who wanted light loads only. he said he didn't get paid enough to babysit the whiners and complainers.

I am not saying I am the ONLY one. But there aren't many that don't need babysitting. I was constantly getting calls in the middle of the night asking stupid questions that were covered in orientation. Maybe if they were paying more attention in class they would know the answer before waking me up in the middle of the night.

We do have some excellent drivers out of Carlisle.

It's a shame that Knight can't pay more for the position because it's definitely a 24-7 job. To me it was just not worth the extra time and stress and responsibility. And why should the Safety Director make $10,000 less per year than a driver does?

The new Safety Director seems to be pretty good. He has not yet really gotten into all the corporate reports and such. I hope he does well but he will also get sick of the middle-of-the-night calls too.

I would gladly go back to the position when he bails, but only for the right price. I would just have to learn NOT to pick up my phone when nobody else will either.
