I drove for those misfits for 6 months out of the Lemont terminal. Never was preplanned, sat for hours waiting on loads after empty, stranded on the weekends having to re-call the weekend dispatcher at home. And what does the weekend dispatcher say to me? Sorry man I forgot about ya, let me find something for you. I also have to remind him that I have no empty trailer and that usually results in a wild goose chase to find one. I could never figure out how it is that a company as large as this can be so derelict when it comes to making sure an empty trailer is going to be available for a driver to pick up.

As far as the qualcomm sending a message to safety about a driver going over the 11 or 14 hour like dollarshort is saying is absolutely false. Many times I went over it because of Knights planning not mine so lets get that straight before someone gets stupid and runs their mouth. Loads were not turned down by me cause I couldn't afford to turn them down. So if the qualcomm program used by Knight sends a message to safety about a driver running illegal then why didn't it send a message to safety the day I ran 880 miles? Because its b.s.

The qualcomm does send an a message if you're over hours. I have been scolded for that before and was even shut down at a consignee 15 minutes from the damn terminal and my house for 10 hours BEFORE I could go home for the weekend. I didn't stay of course.

It all depends on wheither the safety guy does anything about it. Some will let you slide the driving time if it's within your 14 and you're not to over on your miles. Others start bitchin' 10 minutes after your limit is up.
Have 3 or 4 dispatchers yelling at him to leave the drivers alone also makes some of them a little gunshy. I remember some really good power struggles at the slc terminal between safety and the fleet manager, who would basically look him right in the eye and tell one of the drivers to go make that 900 miles trip in 24 hours and then stare at him, waiting for him to do something. It also sucked for him that our past few terminal managers sucked and wouldn't back him up. Course last time I was there, the safety guy was now the terminal manager and the fleet manager was just a dispatcher now, LOL

Dollarshort will live up to his name after the regional safety guy gets done with his ass and the PA terminal
What a dumb ass! He is probley one of those guys that would brag about going around a scale on the CB with another driver while they were doing it with DOT listening :P
Knight has its good points and its bad points just like any other company out here. Every company has its problems but the problem with Knight is not only doesnt your FM not give a shit about you, your terminal manager doesnt give a shit about you and also the Knights themselves dont give a shit about you  Thats right it goes all the way to the top!

Last saturday and sunday I sat. Monday ran 450 miles. Tuesday I sat. It takes 6-7 weeks to get the chump change layover pay that I have to beg for weekly.

This week my check was short $110. Got charged $2.50 fee for a comcheck for a lumper. Had 1 load they didn't even pay me for after Transflowing it 8 days ago. And got shorted 201 miles on another load. I love knight.

You are an a$$! It just so happens I was a safety director for Knight, so I happen to know how the system works. Instead of sitting around bitching all the time get off you a$$ and do some work.

I can make $10,000 more per year as a driver. And my phone stops ringing when I am trying to sleep.
