As many of you know I've been trying to get a local driving job for about a month now.... and to be honest.... I was getting a little scared that I would be forced into a regional or OTR position! Anyways, So I get a call last Tuesday and Interview Wednesday..... and GOT THE JOB!!! Its a local LTL carrier with FREE benefits for the entire family.... and its home every night, roughly 50 hours a week at $19hr.!!! My family is SO greatful and were estatic at this point.... That's great. Good luck, and let us know how things go.

In the spirit of the forums and sharing info, please tell us. I didn't know the national chains would go from interview to hire in 1 weeks time. If it's a quality Mom-n-Pop, I doubt they would mind the good publicity.

There is no such thing as "free" benefits. Salary and benefits(eg. health insurance, vacation time, retirement plan, etc.) are part of the total compensation package to you. Also, a company does NOT pay payroll taxes(eg. FICA and Medicare) because that is the cost of the labor you perform for the company. It would ONLY be "free" if you were not required to do anything to receive it. Generally, companies require you to work for them to get benefits even if you are a union thug .... Uh, member.

OK. I'll restate it. It must be a Teamsters job because they are the only ones who offer health insurance and retirement pension plan at NO COST to the employee.
