That reminds me...
Being the "show-me" kind of guy I am, I haven't really payed much to all the CRE talk I see here.
The only conclusion I came to was it probably isn't a good deal.
I NEVER thought it was as bad as some make it out to be.
Until....I met a CRE lease driver and wife who were sitting in a truckstop in Ohio a couple weeks ago.
He approached me about PGT because after a year he and his wife only had a truck to live in and appeared to me to be half-starved...literally!
He asked to use my phone to call payroll and see what his check would be for the week.
It was a grand total of MINUS $122. And that was after 2900 miles? He didn't even get upset. He appeared to me to have become numb to such news. He only stated that "...I think the camel's back finally broke"
The husband told me they were pretty much down eating a sandwich and chips ONCE a day and once in a while nothing at all. Even though they never asked me for anything at all (except the phone call) I felt compelled to give them a little food (pretending to be overstocked and needing a little floor space back)
To be honest...I damn near cried after leaving them behind.
I have a hard time believing a company can get away with such behavior and SOMBODY not being investigated and brought up on criminal charges...or at least taken out behind the barn and horse-whipped.
My opinion of CRE has been forever changed.
