Ok. I played a bit of a trick on you guys with this post. I Currently work for Mclane :!: I wanted to post this question as a...control group, if you will. I have a few other posts on some companies I am looking into right now as I Prepare to move to Nashville Tn. from New Jersey.(There isn't a Mclane for 3+ hours from Nashville) So, I wanted to see what kind of a report and how accurate the info would be on a company I already know so that I might better judge the potential accuracy of the info recieved on my 'real' posts. Sorry, but it had to be done. I hope you understand.

Well, how was it!? With a few MINOR differences, your assesments were spot on!

1. Mclane is extremely hard work, but, you are home every night and the money is pretty good too. ($75k to $100k with the average guy somewhere around $85)
2.They have good benefits but are getting a little expensive nowadays.
3.The job does keep you in shape...it's hand delivering a 40,000lb load into 10 to 15 stops AFTER you manage to park in the lot of a tiny fast food joint. There is a lot of NYC too.
4.The average age of the drivers in my center is probably 40 to 45. we have some young guys but the most are grey but solid muscle. the oldest is 59. (a sixty plus just retired)
5.The equipment is pretty good (maintained by PENSKE) and is replaced every 3 to 4 years.
6. if anyone has any specific questions about them...PM me.

KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut delivers. I talk to them guys out there all the time. I pick up at most of the same places they do. They say they make good money. If they put a warehouse in Pittsburgh, I would apply.

Yeah I really don't know much about the grocery division except that they are building a new DC in the poconos region. In jersey the grocery DC is in the Vineland area. I understand it's not as physical as foodservice and doesnt quite pay as well as a result. As a bonus though, they only go out with two guys to a truck. We (foodservice) go out single man about half the time.

Before Mclane had a full-service food service div. we lumped both grocery and restaraunt foods. Don't be fooled, not all of us went out as team. The phx. div. run about 45% solos. Many of the div. are running more solos.
The food service side is much different, I don't think I would want to do that kind of work. I think your right, the food service does seem to be more demanding, especially if they are still servicing the chuck e cheese pizza places, they really sucked.
I understand they are not as driver friendly these days. Don't know for sure just what some of my friends that are still there have said. Many of them are finally able to cross over to wal-mart, something we could not do while they owned Mclane. Anyways just my couple of cents worth. Take care

Default Just trying to be a good girlfriend for my truck driver

Is anybody from McLane familiar with a bulldog hand truck? My boyfriend used to work for McLane in Southern California and I guess he used one there. I am not a truck driver or hand truck expert but the way he talks about these I really want to surprise him with one. I looked online and found the Sandhill Proseries Bulldog but I asked him about it and he said it wasn't the right one. He also said he's not sure if they still make the one he is talking about.

If anyone has any info that might help me figure out more about this and how to get one, please let me know.

My goal after 2 years exp is Mclane. Good money, home every night, hard work to stay in shape.
That is not what they told me. I spoke to a recruiter form them and they said it was regional gig with being through the house during the week possibly. Maybe this was just the terminal here in NY.
