Default CONWAY express LTL, anybody work for them?

Going for a second interview with CWX (Conway) and want to see if anyone has some good or bad opinions of them. Pay is good and Bennie's are great. Not sure about the on call status when you first start.

Any info would be great.

Almost any LTL job is going to be better in terms of pay and working conditions that OTR.

LTL can also be significantly more demanding than many OTR jobs. Its a lot more than just pick up, drive 1000 miles and deliver.

I get .41cpm while driving, hourly for everything else and I'm at the bottom of the pay scale. I make ~$40k per year and I have one of the least demanding bids at my barn.

At my barn our line drivers take doubles over Donner and back twice a night rain or shine. Last year when we were short handed I worked 68.5 hrs in a 5 day work week.

When you're new it sucks to be on call..you income will be unpredictable. Depending on the company and the terminal it can take 6-36 months to get a bid (start time). Once you have a bid you pretty much have it made.

Coway is great to work for if you can get through the probationary period until you have full status. I loved working for them, but could not make it through when freight slowed down, I did not work. If you can make it through that then they are great to work for.

The question(s) you need to be asking yourself is/are, "Am i a robot?"

"Am i former military;" "Do i have self-disipline?"

"Am i self-motivated?" or "Would i rather work less hours and spend more time on the couch OR work more hours now so that one day i'll own the T.V. station?"

I mean, if you can do it, congratulations and more power 2 U.

I'll be man enough to admit i could not and would not do it.

Don't worry about the on-call status because don't nobody want this gig.

The money and benefits are great.

You WILL work your little white a$$ off.

LTL is not for everyone. Poundin' out 30-50 stops per day during the summer with no AC can be very demanding.

We still have it easier than some of the food service delivery guys who hand muck a full van daily.

I'd say 60-80% of the OTR drivers that are hired off the street are gone within 6-8 weeks.
