Default Does it exist?

Okay, I'm fed up with the current job. I jump on here or any other trucking site to look for info and at best I get links to useless Mega company B.S. recruiting sites.

Does anyone know of a site where I can punch in MY wants and sort through companies based on MY needs versus swimming with the recruiting sharks and dredging through useless garbage only to find out that the companies listed are unsuitable for whatever reason?

As much as I hate going to a new company, the thought of wasting my home-time sorting through recruiting sites again is about as enjoyable as a root canal.

How about good miles 2500 or so a week (the ultimate would be a dedicated account with STEADY miles)

Good Hometime either home weekends or at least 3 days after 2 weeks

Good Pay over 40 cpm preferably practical, I'm sick of being shorted
on HHG

Decent equipment, tired of 20 hrs a month in the shop with a POS Mack with a 350 governed at 65. DEFINITELY a FEMALE truck !!! Every time it sees a hill that little dog on front on the hood wets down its leg ;P

Might as well go for it all and say allows inverters (I hate truck stop prices and grease) rider program with pets allowed so I can OCCASIONALLY take the wife and our babies (the dogs)

Affordable health benefits that actually cover some of the Dr bills and prescription costs.

401k is a big plus also

Preferably Dry van or willing to try tankers, I've already got all the endorsements except passengers.

Before anyone asks 3 yrs exp clean MVR and only 1 minor incident ruled NP, damn 4 wheeler ran into my trailer.

A company that:

Pays me from the second I arrive at a ship/recv to the time I leave
Pays me to use the restroom
Pays me to eat Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Won't charge me an obscene amount of money to take my dog
Doesn't put limits on inverters pending professional installation
Allows me to cherry pick my loads
Allows you the choice of truck from a lot of 10k different trucks

In all seriousness, You'll find all sorts of answers. Depends on what kind of work your looking for. How much home time, Pay etc etc. The link provided earlier is a great tool.

As far as my wish list. That exactly what it is A WISH LIST!

they should make all driving positions HOURLY . That way if your not moving your still getting paid. I bet the dispatcher would make darn sure that truck was moving at all times ! Also, You wouldn't have to worry about speeding or logging a special way <wink>.

Ok --------- time for me to wake up from my dream

hmm, hourly. So for otr, would that be the hours you drive and on duty nd only or from the time you leave the house to the time you get back? If its just when not in sleeper or at home youd have to pay about 15.00 an hour but if its anytime you are in the truck, then about 10.00. At least with the cpm pay its not like a salary because thats more like what hourly pay would seem like in our line of work, wouldnt it? You could only get paid so much. Mile pay plus hourly, now thats a nice plan. Even if its 2.00 an hour just for being in the truck.

I would think that O\O would be exempt from hourly because they own their business. This would pertain to company drivers.

As for a salary type payment-- Not really. Instead of choosing a company paying .40 or .42 a mile you could accept a job paying a certain hourly rate. In a perfect world, A company would then pay more for experience as they do now but by the mile.

Hourly would include all time that you spend under dispatch and that would include loading/unloading, and driving. Of course they wouldn't pay for sleeper time, but then that is governed by DOT. So, basically you would collect hourly at 14 hours a day during the time you are under dispatch, which would mean that if you are waiting for to be dispatched for another load that would be paid also. The only time you would not be paid is when you complete your run and are heading to the house in the company equipment. I don't know any company that pays you to drive home.

Basically if one was to be paid $15hr for 70 hours a week=$1000 That is a bit more than alot of newbie's make . When I ran OTR (regional) we were paid $17.25hr for all hours on the clock(paperless log). Wasn't a bad gig at all, knowing that it doesn't matter how much you sit that you are always on duty except for your rest period.
Isn't it time companies start paying a living wage to everyone ?

Nice little fantasy huh ???

I think the possibility of the perfect trucking job ALL DEPENDS on your point of view. Even great companies have turn-over. It's a personal descision to balance home-time with a bigger pay check. Preferences between easy dry van loads, or doubles, or day cab versus home weekly. If you have kids or a needy wife, you might think you need home daily. If you have bills that make the time spent at home miserable, then its better to be on the road and home when you can afford to.

I chose the road and I plan to be off the road in a few years or less. I have goals regarding home-time, financial accomplishments and the hopes of having a better life from making wise descisions with my money now.
