Why don't you give Commercial Carriers a call, they have a good regional division hauling beer that will offer weekend hometime, nice equipment, and good miles. I worked for them in 05 and have no complaints, their beer division operates mostly on a drop and hook basis, and believe me you will stay busy driving for the 5 or 6 days you're out.

It's hard not to get swindled into the lease. I worked for Prime and all I know is it's just basically the same deal no matter which company you go with. Their company driver don't make crap, and the bennies suck. They do this on purpose to make you think you will do better as a lease driver.

Default Wil-trans

Do an archives search of 'em here, at layover.com, newbiedriver, com, ooida.com, and safersys.org. You'll find gouge on 'em. They're Prime's temp controlled division, 'nuff said. BOL

I completed 3 leases with Prime and I made good money in the 90"s and took a break, now I do OK as a company driver there. Most of the guys I met who worked at Wiltrans drove fleet owners trucks leased on to them and their pay was negotiated through the truck owner not Wiltrans. They haul the same freight Prime hauls. Maybe things have changed I don't know, I haven't talked to anyone over there in a few years. They do seem to drive east and North east a lot but sometimes that's were the freight is.

Just check out everything to your satisfaction......the bottom line is its your decision. Make it off of fact and not hearsay. Makes no difference what the company name is.

I will say this, I have never had any problems with time off nor pay and I enjoyed my time leasing but all depends on your situation. I do live within 30 Min's of Springfield and I have had excellent Fleet managers except one new guy that just about starved me out until he figured out his job.

I can say I have seen many that lost everything they had but then again I don't do advances and I don't buy things on the road that's not a necessity. Maybe some of those drivers wasn't thrifty with their spending and maybe they didn't manage their expenses on the truck as well as they could have. A lot can be saved by not driving 78 and driving 65. Just my 2 cents. I didn't walk in their shoes and I have no Idea why they had problems.

I was lucky in the lease program but then again there wasn't a company driver division in those days. I have a lot less stress driving on someone Else's dime instead of my own.
