Default (NOT) Home on weekends

Do you know of companies that don't have you home on the weekends? I need miles and don't need to get home too often.

Werner ~ They'll run you to death. Been there, done that. We stayed out two months straight. Would have stayed longer, but we needed to get home.

most companies dont make you go home weekends, they just offer you the choice, most of them will be glad to let you stay out as long as you want.

Just about any company will keep you running if you don't put in for hometime. I've been on the road now for six weeks. Since my wife is in Hawaii at this moment and my getting home is more challenging then most I'll be out a total of eight before I get home.

When I was single I rarely went home since the only home I had was a motel room.

So, the next question is, are you actually driving on the weekends or are you sitting waiting to deliver on monday?

My husband stays out as long as he wants, pretty much has to stay out at least 2 weeks. He picks his own hometime, but only up to 4 days a month. They keep him moving pretty well, weekend or not. The downside is its reefer, and there's wait time at shippers/receivers. I would imagine at any company though it makes a BIG difference what kind of fleet manager or dispatch you're dealing with.
He works for TransAm.

@ Lewis friend

I'm usually driving. In my case I rarely don't drive at least 400 miles a day (most times I'm doing 500+). I just reset my 70 hours here in Tonapah AZ... the first time during the six weeks I've been out on the road that I've actually sat for more than 24 hours.

Freight headed east is slow right now. I'm picking up a load in Phoenix bound for Fresno in a few hours... but it isn't deliverying until the 23rd. Told my FM that wasn't good for my wallet and he will likely let me drop the load at our Sacremento terminal. I just don't know if I'll get something afterwards right away.

I have been out of the industry for a couple years due to a medical condition but I stayed ot at least 6-8 weeks at a time single had no need to go home I routinely got 3500-4K a week in miles pulling reefer in the late 90's called I kept the left door closed. The trick is not to make your FM mad also get a rep at your company as someone that gets the load there regardless as to what the logbook says at least back then you could do it now you can not.
